Clinical Researcher – Rheumatology
Marie has worked for the Trust for 19 years as a Rheumatology Researcher. As well as working mainly in Rheumatology she has been involved in research for other specialities such as Diabetes and more recently Dermatology looking at long-term biologic therapy for Psoriasis, a new area of Research for the Trust.
During her time with Ashford & St Peters she has seen many changes to the way studies are regulated, governed and conducted. Marie worked closely with Dr Mike Irani up until his recent retirement, their main areas of research directed at rheumatologic conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis and Psoriatic Arthritis. During her 19 years in clinical research Marie has found satisfaction in seeing the results from the research being implemented into clinical practice.
As well as research, Marie assists the rheumatology Specialist Nurses with research projects and a variety of other activities.
In her spare time Marie sings in the hospital choir and volunteers for a local group of adults with learning disabilities, helping with social events.
