Research Nurse – Neonatal Intensive Care
Karen has worked at St Peter’s Hospital for 29 Years as a Senior Staff Nurse on the Neonatal Unit and also for the R & D department on the Neonatal Unit for the last 2 years. She enjoys the combination of the jobs as it helps her work better in both fields. Both NICU and the R&D teams are fantastic to work with and she feels so lucky to have 2 jobs that she can use her experience and gain more knowledge from.
She is currently recruiting for the Renoir study which is a randomised double-blind controlled trial to evaluate the effects of a new human milk fortifier on growth and tolerance in preterm infants. We have currently recruited 7 babies and would like to get 25 babies in total. We have the trial running until next April. The babies are followed up at 6 months, 12 months and 24 months for their growth.
