Non-Executive Director

ASPH are delighted to have appointed Jane Dale as a Non-Executive Director. Jane has an extensive and diverse background working within the NHS, after joining in 1982 as a student nurse. After qualifying as a registered general nurse and then midwife, she worked as a ward manager, practice nurse, community team leader, and nurse trainer, before moving into management as a clinical governance manager for a primary care and community provider and commissioner. After this she was appointed Director of Clinical Care, responsible for pharmacy, primary care and community services.

Whilst working, Jane gained her degree from Cardiff University and post graduate masters in Healthcare Management. In 2009 she joined a large integrated Welsh Health Board where she was responsible for overseeing the improvement of quality and safety of services. Jane also chaired national groups focused on the duty of candour and improving outcomes following complaints.

Jane’s last post was Clinical Director for Healthcare Inspectorate, Wales. This focused on inspection, assurance, and improvement across all health service providers in Wales; both NHS and private healthcare including primary, community and private hospitals.

She has recently co-authored a national report with the Welsh Audit Office, looking at the quality governance arrangements with Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board and is undertaking further governance review work with the Healthcare Inspectorate Wales.

Jane is looking forward to her new role with ASPH and says;

‘I am really looking forward to the new role as Non-Executive Director. When considering applying for the role I attended the open evening and was very impressed with openness, enthusiasm and passion for excellence demonstrated by the Executive, Governors and Non-Executives I talked to. I feel that the values of the Trust accord with my core values as I have always strived to improve the services we provide to patients and staff. I am very excited to be joining the Trust at this time and look forward to working with everyone towards becoming an anchor organisation.’

Jane’s husband lives and runs a business near Farnham so she has been commuting between Wales and Surrey for the last 15 years. Jane has now moved to live back in Surrey to allow her to spend more time with her husband and family.
