What is "In the Moment Planning"?
At its core, in the moment planning enables practitioners to spend more time helping children develop and less time doing paperwork.
The core provisions should be engaging and stimulating, so that children can approach things themselves and allow child-led learning to take place.
Variation is also key. This is particularly true when you are starting out or if you don’t have a full picture of each child’s interests.
In the moment planning has enabled our Ashford & St Peter’s nursery settings to focus on each child’s individual interests each week; as a result, the children make very good progress and the learning is embedded and relevant to each child.
Staff have less paperwork and spends more time with the children and therefore, know each of them better.
Solid relationships are the key to successful outcomes.
