Volunteers from Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals have been nominated for the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. The awards are an annual event which recognise and reward excellence in activities carried out by groups in the community – the MBE for voluntary organisations. Ashford and St Peter’s volunteers were nominated by members of the local community and supported by Jonathan Lord, MP for Woking, who said: “The Trust provides for the healthcare needs of my constituency and ‘our’ volunteers play an increasingly important role in supporting their work. The volunteers are all from the local population they serve and commit their time, skills and energy for the benefit of the local community. I am very pleased to offer my support to the nomination for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services – an award that provides the opportunity to recognise, support and celebrate our volunteers.” Ashford and St Peter’s Volunteers’ Manager, Julie Addison, said: “Our volunteers are, indeed, very special people to us. We know only too well the wonderful work they do and it is nice to know that their efforts are appreciated not only by us but by the public who benefit from their services. They each give something unique and excel in all aspects of their support, but above all give a cheery greeting and kind word to all, wherever and whenever needed. The caring manner in which they support patients and visitors is second to none.” If you would like to make a difference and be part of Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals friendly volunteer team the Trust would love to hear from you.
